An example of our daily routine
06.30 – 09.30 Welcome parents and children – handover chat
08.00 Breakfast (see sample menu)
08.15 Tidy up then brush teeth
08.20 Child led play - we have several different resource boxes (see resource list). Some follow particular themes e.g. holidays, farm animals, lights and sounds. Each contains resources to develop motor skills, co-ordination and to stimulate creativity and imagination.
08.45 Leave for pre-school drop off (if applicable)
09.30 Pack up change bags and snacks for daily outing. Depending on weather, we chose from going to the library, farm, soft play, mother and toddler group, nature walk, treasure hunt walk, park or to the shops. During all of these outings we take the opportunity to teach our children life skills e.g. road safety, respecting our environment, social skills etc.
10.30 Wash hands ready for snack time (see sample menu). If we are at home we would all sit together in the dining room and either have some music and nursery rhymes or chat about a particular topic or event happening for the children.
11.00 If we have not gone on an outing then, weather permitting, we would have some outside play – our resources include, sand and water table, small trampoline, tricycle, bike, scooter, hoop, balls and seesaw. We also give our children the opportunity to grow plants. If the weather does not permit then we would sit down with our children to do some craft activities, share some stories, play a board game, play some music / dance or action rhymes.
11.40 Leave for pre-school pick up (if applicable)
12.30 Wash hands ready for lunch (see sample menu). We all sit together and talk about what we have done so far during the day and anything we would like to do later in the day.
13.15 Tidy up and quiet time in preparation for afternoon sleeps (if applicable)
13.30 Depending on the weather we may go on an outing if there are no sleep requirements or school pick ups. If were staying home we get out a different resource box (see resource list) to vary learning opportunities for those children that may have been here all day.
14.30 Wash hands ready for snack time (see sample menu). If we are at home we would all sit together in the dining room and depending on what we did in the morning we would either have some music and nursery rhymes or chat about a particular topic or event happening for the children.
14.45 If we have not gone on an outing then crafts or outside play (as 11.00)
14.45 – 15.30 School collections (when applicable) – school children will then use the bathroom, wash hands and have drink and snack, whilst engaging in conversation about their day.
15.45 Homework (if applicable) followed by tidy up and wind down ready for collection.
16.00 – 17.00 Goodbye to children - handover chat. We give a detailed verbal summary to each parent of their child’s day, sharing achievements, observations and general information, such as nap times, food and drink intake, nappies etc. We also obtain any relevant signatures from the parent e.g. attendance book, accident book, accounts book etc.
Throughout the day we adapt our routine to include nappy changes, toileting and nap times as required. Our daily routine is flexible and is adapted to suit any special events and to ensure that everyone in our care is getting individual attention and the opportunity to learn and develop through play.
